Broadmoor United Methodist started an urgent drive for DIY hospital masks in mid-March. Now, over 1,000 masks have been hand-made and donated to rural clinics around Louisiana, nursing homes in our community, and Our Lady of the Lake Emergency Room in North Baton Rouge.
If you sew and have some material, sheets, pillow cases, etc., we still need your help. Doctors, nurses, and hospital workers. will use the masks you make to extend the life of the masks they are given. They will be placed over their masks and can be put in the washer and sanitized. Their masks cannot be reused. Please help us make a difference in our community and keep our doctors and nurses safe. DROP OFF your completed masks in the red bin on the front porch of Connection Cafe.
Click on the links below to find instructions and a pattern for making the masks.
There are lots of other sites with patterns you can find online, but these are two that were suggested to us. Some have said there is a preference of the nurses to attach masks with ties instead of elastic, but either kind would be appreciated. Thank you for your help, and stay well.
