AROUND BR
Our Kindness Outreach Ministries is an outward expression of the lessons we learn from Jesus to share our faith through love and action in our neighborhood and surrounding community.
Red Stick Together
Red Stick Together was launched on December 22, 2019 as a place where people could get together and share a meal. This ministry is following the “dinner church” theology that started with Jesus and was carried through the early development of the Christian church. Through mid-March 2020, people would gather on Wednesday nights at 6:00 pm to enjoy a good free meal, community with neighbors, live music & a positive message.
Then COVID-19 forced us to make a slight change. Now, we’re serving FREE TO-GO plates of food available outside in front of Red Stick Together for anyone in need. We’ve grown from one night a week to three and are ramping up to serve 750 meals each week. Anyone can come by on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 6:00 pm to get a good, professionally prepared meal.
There are a few guidelines we’ve put in place at this time.
> One meal per person
> First come, first served
> If you arrive on foot, please practice safe social distancing per CDC guidelines (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html)
To keep this ministry going and growing, we need the support of volunteers like YOU. Right now, we need volunteers to tape postcards on to-go boxes, bake cookies, pick up food and bring to the Red Stick Together site, make to-go plates, talk to diners in line, and hand out food.

Open Air Ministries
This is a laity-led ministry in which volunteers provide music, Bible study leadership, prayer, food, and drinks for the homeless in downtown Baton Rouge. Broadmoor collects clothing and other essential items for the ministry throughout the year. We also provide lunch and drinks once a month at their weekly worship service. Disaster Relief & Early Response Teams
During times of crisis such as hurricanes and floods, our church is ready to respond with the love of a Christian presence and a helping hand. These teams are even trained to respond to disasters in different parts of the country when able. If you are interested in serving with Broadmoor in any of the above areas or one you don’t see here, please email Rev. Kennon Pickett at kpickett@broadmoormethodist.org or give her a call at (225) 924-6269.
