Our Kindness Outreach Ministries is an outward expression of the lessons we learn from Jesus to share our faith through love and action in our neighborhood and surrounding community.
This is a non-profit charitable organization started at Broadmoor United Methodist Church. It is now located next door to Broadmoor’s campus at 476 Sharp Rd and staffed by volunteers from 19 churches. We work together to provide food to qualifying clients who live in Baton Rouge.
ESL (English as a Second Language)
We minister to adult immigrants by teaching them the English language through learning about American culture and life skills with the goal that they learn to survive and thrive in our society.
Open Air Ministries
This is a laity-led ministry in which volunteers provide music, Bible study leadership, prayer, food, and drinks for the homeless in downtown Baton Rouge. Broadmoor collects clothing and other essential items for the ministry throughout the year. We also provide lunch and drinks once a month at their weekly worship service. This is a retreat for the forgotten people who are impacted by an incarcerated loved one’s decisions.
Parker House/VOA Reilly Center for Children
Volunteers plan and participate in activities with children in therapeutic foster care.
We open our gym to neighborhood basketball players each week from 5-7pm on Tuesdays.
A community event at the end of October that gives local children a safe, fun place to celebrate fall and collect candy and prizes.
Community Garage Sale
One of the largest garage sales in Baton Rouge that helps raise money for our missions and outreach ministries.
Day of Compassion
An opportunity for anyone to participate in a small half-day or full-day mission project with many of our partner ministries or in the Broadmoor neighborhood.
Disaster Relief & Early Response Teams
During times of crisis such as hurricanes and floods, our church is ready to respond with the love of a Christian presence and a helping hand. These teams are even trained to respond to disasters in different parts of the country when able.
If you are interested in serving with Broadmoor in any of the above areas or one you don’t see here, please email Rev. Elaine Burleigh at email@example.com or give her a call at (225) 924-6269.
